Laurel Park (race track)

Laurel Park is an American thoroughbred racetrack located just outside Laurel, Maryland which opened in 1911. The track is 1 1/8 miles in circumference. Its name was changed to "Laurel Race Course" for several decades until returning to the "Laurel Park" designation in 1994.

Guilford, Maryland

Guilford is a community located in Howard County in the state of Maryland in the United States of America. Formerly a small railroad stop, it now lies within the boundaries of Columbia. For United States Census Bureau statistics, it is included within the Census-designated place of Savage-Guilford, Maryland. See also: Savage, Maryland. Guilford was the location of granite quarries active from the mid-19th century to the early 20th century.

Maryland House of Correction

The Maryland House of Correction, nicknamed "The Cut" or "The House", was a Maryland Department of Corrections state maximum security prison in an unincorporated area in Maryland. Most of its territory was in Anne Arundel County, while portions were in Howard County. The prison opened in 1879 and became infamous for the high levels of violence that took place inside its walls. The state, under Governor Martin O'Malley, closed the prison in March 2007.
