Herring Island (Elk River)

Herring Island is a 2 acre private property at the mouth of the Herring Creek in Cecil County, Maryland. It has played a considerable role in local history, with local Native tribes hunting there and the English camping there during the War of 1812. Herring Island formed during the 17th century with the erosion of Herring Creek's peninsula into an island. From the early 20th Century until the 1970s it was a Boy Scout Camp, consisting of numerous log cabins.

Bohemia Manor High School is a public school operated by Cecil County Public Schools located approximately one mile south of the small town of Chesapeake City in Cecil County, Maryland. This is a small school of 685 students which shares its campus with Bohemia Manor Middle School. This school serves the Maryland communities of Chesapeake City, Cecilton, and parts of Elkton. The school is also known by the nickname "Bo Manor."

Cecil County, Maryland

Cecil County is a county located in the U.S. state of Maryland. It was named for Cæcilius Calvert, 2nd Baron Baltimore (1605–1675), who was the first Proprietary Governor of the colony of Maryland from 1632 until his death in 1675. The county seat is Elkton. The newspaper of record is the Cecil Whig. As of 2010, the population was 101,108.

Chesapeake City Bridge

The Chesapeake City Bridge carries Maryland Route 213 across the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal in Chesapeake City, Maryland. There are two undivided traffic lanes and one sidewalk on the east side of the bridge. It was built in 1949 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to provide a high-level canal crossing. An older vertical lift drawbridge was destroyed on July 28, 1942 after being struck by the tanker Franz Klasen. The bridge is identical in appearance to the old St.
