Fort Washington is an unincorporated area and census-designated place in Prince George's County, Maryland. It borders the capital of the United States of America, Washington, D.C. , situated just south of the downtown district. It is a prosperous community with an African American majority population. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 23,717. The Fort Washington community is located west of Maryland Route 210, with some additional area to the east of the highway.

Friendly is an unincorporated area and census-designated place (CDP) in Prince George's County, Maryland, USA, with an African-American majority population, located a few miles south of Washington, D.C. The population was 9,250 at the 2010 census. Friendly had its own rural post office in the early 20th century, and is now under the mailing address Fort Washington, MD. The name "Friendly" is most associated with Friendly High School which serves most of the greater Fort Washington area.

Potomac Airfield, also known as Potomac Airport or Potomac Airpark, is a privately owned, public-use airport located in the community of Fort Washington (formerly known as Friendly), in Prince Georges County, Maryland, United States. It is a general aviation airport, and there is no scheduled airline service available. Potomac Airfield is located in the Flight Restricted Zone (FRZ) in the center of the Washington, D.C. Air Defense Identification Zone.

Mount Vernon Trail

The Mount Vernon Trail, a part of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail, is a 17 miles paved hiker/biker path in Northern Virginia that travels between Rosslyn and George Washington's home at Mount Vernon. The trail travels through the easternmost portions of Arlington County, the City of Alexandria, and Fairfax County. The trail's route parallels the George Washington Memorial Parkway and the western bank of the Potomac River.
