Alcorn, Mississippi is the unofficial name of an area in Jefferson County, Mississippi. It is the common name given to sites without a name but are around or close to Alcorn State University. Alcorn State University is officially in Lorman, Mississippi. Alcorn is the location of four places listed on the National Register of Historic Places: Bethel Presbyterian Church Canemount Catledge Archeological Site Oakland Chapel (on the Alcorn State University campus)

Alcorn State University

Alcorn State University is a historically black comprehensive land-grant institution in Lorman, Mississippi. It was founded in 1871 by the Reconstruction era legislature to provide higher education for freedmen. It was the first black land grant college in the United States. The university is counted as a census-designated place and had a resident population of 1,017 at the 2010 census. Medgar Evers, a civil rights activist, graduated in 1948 from here.

Henderson Stadium (Alcorn State)

Henderson Stadium is a stadium in Lorman, Mississippi. It hosted the Alcorn State University Braves football team until the school moved to Jack Spinks Stadium in 1992. The stadium held 10,000 people at its peak. It currently hosts the school's track and field squad.

Foster Baseball Field at McGowan Stadium

William "Bill" Foster Baseball Field at Willie E. "Rat" McGowan Stadium is a baseball venue in Lorman, Mississippi, United States. It is home to the Alcorn State Braves baseball team of the NCAA Division I Southwestern Athletic Conference. The field is named for Bill Foster, former Negro League baseball player, member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame, and Alcorn State head baseball coach from 1960 to 1971. The stadium is named for Willie McGowan, head baseball coach from 1972 to 2009.

Jack Spinks Stadium

Jack Spinks Stadium is a 22,500–seat multi-purpose stadium in Lorman, Mississippi and is home to the Alcorn State University Braves football team. The stadium is also the site of annual rivalry games featuring Southern University and Texas Southern University. Jack Spinks stadium is surrounded by the campus, the Davey Whitley Complex, numerous amounts of trees to the far east from the home side.
