Battle of the Tongue River

The Battle of the Tongue River, sometimes referred to as the Connor Battle, was an engagement of the Powder River Expedition of 1865, directed against the Cheyenne, Arapaho and Lakota Sioux. Soldiers and Indian scouts attacked and destroyed an Arapaho village.

Tongue River Cave

Tongue River Cave is a cave in the Bighorn National Forest just west of Dayton, Wyoming. Historically notable for a wide variety of rare cave formations and animal species, the cave has suffered in recent decades from unrestricted traffic, vandalism, and the theft of many of the cave's speleothems. Deemed beyond preservation, the cave is now managed by the U.S. Forest Service as a "sacrifice cave".
