Great South Bay

Great South Bay is a bay situated between Long Island and Fire Island, in the State of New York. It is approximately 45 miles long. It's protected from the Atlantic Ocean by Fire Island, a barrier island, as well as the eastern end of Jones Beach Island and Captree Island. Robert Moses Causeway adjoins the Great South Bay Bridge, which leads to Robert Moses State Park.

Priscilla (sloop)

Priscilla is a classic oyster dredging sloop that was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2006. It is berthed near the Modesty, another National Historic Landmark sloop at the Long Island Maritime Museum.

Rudolph Oyster House

Located on the grounds of the Long Island Maritime Museum, The Rudolph Oyster House was built circa 1890. It is typical of the many oyster culling houses which once lined the local waterfront, providing work for hundreds of predominantly Dutch immigrant local residents. Until 1938, the local oyster industry was the center of a booming economy. Unfortunately, a major hurricane on September 21 of that year wiped out the south shore oyster beds.

La Salle Military Academy

The La Salle Military Academy was a Catholic school with middle school/junior high school and high school divisions located in Oakdale, New York. It closed in 2001, and the school's extensive campus is now owned by St. John's University, New York.
