Tahawus, New York

Tahawus (also called Adirondac, Adirondak, or McIntyre) was a village in the Town of Newcomb, Essex County, New York, USA. It is now a ghost town situated in Adirondack Park. Tahawus is located in Essex County within the unpopulated northern area designated to the town of Newcomb. Tahawus was the site of major mining and iron smelting operations in the 19th century.

Henderson Lake (New York)

Henderson Lake is a lake in the Adirondacks in the town of Newcomb, Essex County, New York in the United States. It was named in 1826 after David Henderson, one of the founders of the Elba Iron Works near Lake Placid, and of the Upper Works at Tahawus.

Lake Colden

Lake Colden is a 41-acre lake located in the Adirondack High Peaks in New York, USA. Lake Colden sits at 2764 feet (842 meters) at the western base of 4,714-foot (1,437 m) Mount Colden. To the northwest lie the MacIntyre Mountains— 5,115-foot (1,559 m) Algonquin Peak (the second highest mountain in the state), 4829-foot (1472 meter) Boundary Peak, 4,843-foot (1,476 meter) Iroquois Peak and 4,380-foot (1,335 meters) Mount Marshall. Mount Marcy is 2.8 miles to the east.

Lake Harris Campground

Lake Harris Campground is a campground operated by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) on Harris Lake in the town of Newcomb, New York in the Adirondacks. The campground is open from mid-May through early September. 275-acre Harris Lake empties into the Hudson River near its beginning just above the Hudson Gorge.

Lake Tear of the Clouds

Lake Tear of the Clouds is a small tarn located in the town of Keene, in Essex County, New York, on the southwest slope of Mount Marcy; it is both the highest lake in the state and the highest source of the Hudson River via Feldspar Brook and the Opalescent River. The Hudson River actually begins several miles southwest of Marcy below Henderson Lake at the confluence of Calamity Brook and Indian Pass Brook near Henderson Lake in Newcomb, New York.
