Stone Mountain (North Carolina)

Stone Mountain is the centerpiece of Stone Mountain State Park. It is a dome of exposed granite of Devonian age, which has intruded into the gneiss of the Precambrian Alligator Back Formation. It rises sharply over 600 feet (183 m) above the surrounding terrain. The mountain, which has an elevation of 2,305 feet (706 m) above sea level, is known for its barren sides and distinctive brown-gray color, and can be seen for miles.

Traphill is name of a rural community located in northeastern Wilkes County, North Carolina. The community is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Traphill is listed as a ZIP Code Tabulation Area by the U.S. Census Bureau. According to the 2000 Census, the population of Traphill was 1,936. Stone Mountain State Park, one of the most popular state parks in North Carolina, is located in Traphill.

North Wilkes High School

North Wilkes High School is a public school (grades 9–12) located in Hays, North Carolina. It is a part of the Wilkes County Schools system. The school's enrollment typically runs from 700 to 750 students. The school's district includes most of northern Wilkes County, including the communities of Traphill, Hays, McGrady, Mulberry, and a small portion of the town of North Wilkesboro. The original school building, built in the 1950s, was demolished in 2006, to be replaced with new wings.
