Advance, North Carolina

Advance (pronounced with the stress on the first syllable) is an unincorporated community located in Davie County, North Carolina. It has a total land area of 62.3 square miles and is located along NC 801 and US 158 just south of Bermuda Run near the western bank of the Yadkin River. Advance is a part of the Piedmont Triad and is home to Shady Grove Elementary School. Neighboring communities and municipalities include: Bermuda Run, Mocksville, Hillsdale, and Yadkin College.

Tanglewood Park

Tanglewood Park is a golf course and park in Clemmonsville Township, Forsyth County, North Carolina, USA. It is located on the Yadkin River between Clemmons and Bermuda Run. It is home to the annual "Tanglewood Festival of Lights," a display of lights in the wintertime celebrating the holidays. Additional attractions include the Tanglewood Park Arboretum and Rose Garden, a public pool, horse stables, and Mallard Lake for fishing and paddleboat renting.

1974 PGA Championship

The 1974 PGA Championship was the 56th PGA Championship, played August 8–11 at Tanglewood Park (Championship Course) in Clemmons, North Carolina. Lee Trevino won the first of his two PGA Championships, one stroke ahead of Jack Nicklaus. It was the fifth of Trevino's six major titles; Nicklaus was the runner-up to Trevino in a major for the fourth time. Sam Snead, age 62, finished tied for third for his third consecutive top ten finish in the event.
