South Johnston High School (also referred to as "South") is a high school for grades 9–12 located in Four Oaks, North Carolina, near Benson. The school was built in 1969 in order to integrate the area's "all-white" and "all-black" schools. As of the 2012/2013 school year it is currently in its 44th year of operation. The principal is Eddie Price, a former principal of Clayton Middle School. The school is located in the Southern portion of Johnston County.

WPYB

WPYB, 1130 AM, is a radio station in Benson, North Carolina—a small town between Raleigh and Fayetteville—that has a classic country music format. WPYB was the first station that was owned by George G. Beasley, the founder of Beasley Broadcast Group. Mr. Beasley has long since sold WPYB, and the most recent ownership was Dunn-Benson Broadcasting, a local company owned by a husband and wife. WPYB operates only during daylight hours to accommodate the signal of WBBR in New York City.

Meadow Lights

Meadow Lights is a 30-acre display of Christmas lights near Meadow, North Carolina open yearly from Thanksgiving through New Years. In operation for over 40 years, it is the largest and oldest Christmas light show in eastern North Carolina. It is owned and operated by Roy Johnson and his family on land adjoining their home. The display features light displays, some several stories tall, alongside displays of mannequins depicting the life of Jesus.
