East Wake High School (formerly known as Vaiden Whitley High School) is the only public high school in Wendell, North Carolina. East Wake is one of 19 high schools in the Wake County Public School System. The school is unique in the Wake County School System because it is subdivided into four separate smaller schools. Southeastern Free Will Baptist College is a college of the Free Will Baptist denonimation located in Wendell, North Carolina. It was begun in Virginia Beach, Virginia at Gateway FWB Church and was moved to Wendell, during the 1980s in order for the college to maintain a more central location. Jim Marcum became the most recent President of the college in 2012, replacing Dr. Lorenza Stox, and Pastor Dann Patrick is Chairman of the Board of Trustees composed of various FWB (and Baptist) ministers.
