Western Piedmont Community College

Western Piedmont Community College is a small community college located in Morganton in western North Carolina. It is the home of the Sam J. Ervin Library, dedicated to the veteran U.S. senator, a Morganton native, who chaired the Senate Watergate hearings in 1973.

J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center

The J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center is a state government institution in Morganton, NC. The Riddle Center provides treatment and care for persons with mental retardation. Formerly known as Western Carolina Center, it was renamed for its director, J. Iverson Riddle. Riddle, who served as director for the existence of the institution, resigned effective June 30, 2006. The new director, Art Robarge, began on August 15, 2006.
