Rockerville, South Dakota

Rockerville is a small unincorporated community in Pennington County in the Black Hills of the U.S. state of South Dakota. Originally established as a mining camp, it was named for the "rockers" which were used to separate placer gold from stream gravel.

Stratobowl

The Stratobowl is a compact natural depression within the limits of Black Hills National Forest in South Dakota, south-west of Rapid City. In 1934–1935 it housed a stratospheric balloon launch site, initially known as Stratocamp, sponsored by the National Geographic Society and the United States Army Air Corps. In 1956–1959 the site was reused by the U. S Navy Project Strato-Lab.

Colonial Pine Hills, South Dakota

Colonial Pine Hills is a census-designated place (CDP) and unincorporated community in Pennington County, South Dakota, United States. The population was 2,493 at the 2010 census. Many master-planned communities have been built in Colonial Pine Hills and the area is considered one of the most affluent places to live in Pennington County.

Sitting Bull Crystal Caverns

Sitting Bull Crystal Caverns is a limestone cave complex nine miles south of Rapid City, South Dakota on the way to Mount Rushmore and by the Wind Cave National Park. The caves are open for the public to tour from May-October. The cave was discovered by the Duhamel family, Alex and Mamie and their sons, Bud and Pete, in 1929, at their property in Rockerville Gulch. The gulch is a red rock canyon east of Rockerville.

Reptile Gardens

Reptile Gardens is an animal park located in Rapid City, South Dakota. Its mission is "To educate the public on important environmental issues, while working closely with many major zoos worldwide to promote species survival".
