Cumberland Head, New York

Cumberland Head is a census-designated place and region of the Town of Plattsburgh in Clinton County, New York, United States. The population was 1,627 at the 2010 census. Cumberland Head is a peninsula projecting into Lake Champlain, and includes the communities of Rocky Point and Champlain Park. A landing for the Lake Champlain Transportation Company's ferry to Gordon Landing on Grand Isle, Vermont is near the south end of Cumberland Head.

Grand Isle (island)

Grand Isle is the largest island in Lake Champlain, Vermont, USA. It has a land area of 81.86 km² (31.6 sq mi). The island comprises the two towns of Grand Isle and South Hero, Vermont. The total population as of the 2000 census was 3,651.

Cumberland Head Light

Cumberland Head Light is a lighthouse on Lake Champlain's Cumberland Bay in New York state. The lighthouse was established in 1838 and the tower was first lit in 1868. The lighthouse was deactivated in 1934. The foundation of the lighthouse is concrete and limestone and the lighthouse itself is made out of limestone. The shape of the tower is conical. The original lens was a fourth order Fresnel lens installed in 1856.
