Fort Richardson (Arlington, Virginia)
Fort Richardson was a detached redoubt constructed by the Union Army in September 1861 as part of the defense of Washington during the American Civil War. It was named for General Israel B. Richardson, whose division was then deployed to defend against attack by way of Columbia Turnpike. It had a perimeter of 316 yards and emplacements for 15 guns. It is now marked only by an historic marker on South 18th Street off of Glebe Road.

Gus Grissom
Virgil Ivan Grissom (April 3, 1926 – January 27, 1967),, better known as Gus Grissom, was one of the original NASA Project Mercury astronauts and a United States Air Force pilot. He was the second American to fly in space, and the first member of the NASA Astronaut Corps to fly in space twice. Grissom was killed along with fellow astronauts Ed White and Roger Chaffee during a pre-launch test for the Apollo 1 mission at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station (then known as Cape Kennedy), Florida.

Fort Albany (Arlington, Virginia)
Fort Albany was a bastioned earthwork built by the Union Army in Arlington County (then still known as Alexandria County) in Virginia. It was built in 1861 as part of the defense of Washington during the American Civil War. Arlington Hall
Arlington Hall (also called Arlington Hall Station) was a former girl's school and the headquarters of the United States Army's Signal Intelligence Service (SIS) cryptography effort during World War II. The site presently houses the George P. Shultz National Foreign Affairs Training Center, and the U.S. National Guard Readiness Center. It is located on Arlington Boulevard between S. Glebe Road and S. George Mason Drive in Arlington, Virginia.

Prospect Hill (Arlington, Virginia)
Prospect Hill was a mansion built in 1841 by successful contractor James Roach in Arlington County (then still named Alexandria County) in the U.S. state of Virginia. The house was built on Arlington Ridge Road. The house was demolished in 1965, but an historic marker has been placed at the site. Prospect Hill has been recognized as an Historic District by Arlington County.
