Beaverdam, Virginia

Beaverdam is a small unincorporated community in Hanover County in the central region of the U.S. state of Virginia. It was located on the Virginia Central Railroad, which later became part of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad. It is the location of two historic locations: Scotchtown, a residence of Patrick Henry, and the Beaverdam Depot. It was also the childhood home of Thomas Nelson Page, a notable author and American diplomat in the 20th century.

Battle of North Anna

The Battle of North Anna was fought May 23–26, 1864, as part of Union Lt. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant's Overland Campaign against Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia.
