Giles County, Virginia

Giles County is a county located in the U.S. state of Virginia, and is part of the Blacksburg–Christiansburg–Radford Metropolitan Statistical Area. Its county seat is Pearisburg, and as of 2010, the county's population was 17,286. Giles County is the location of Mountain Lake, one of only two natural fresh water lakes in Virginia. The Lake drains into Little Stony Creek, which passes over "The Cascades", a spectacular waterfall, before reaching the New River.

Mountain Lake (Virginia)

Mountain Lake is a freshwater lake located in Giles County near Newport, Virginia, in the United States. Along with Lake Drummond in the Great Dismal Swamp, it is one of only two natural lakes in Virginia. It was originally known as Salt Pond, as it was where cattle were given salt.
