Smithfield, Virginia

Smithfield is a town in Isle of Wight County, in the South Hampton Roads subregion of the Hampton Roads region of Virginia in the United States. The population was 8,089 at the 2010 census. The town is most famous for the curing and production of the Smithfield ham. The Virginia General Assembly passed a statute defining "Smithfield ham" by law in 1926, with one of the requirements that it be processed within the town limits.

Smithfield High School

Smithfield High School is a public high school located in Smithfield, Virginia in Isle of Wight County, south of Newport News and the James River. It is part of the Isle of Wight County Public Schools and graduated its first class in 1906. The school's current facility opened in 1980. Athletic teams compete in the Virginia High School League's AA Bay Rivers District in Region I.

Benns Church, Virginia

Benns Church is a census-designated place (CDP) in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, United States. It is located at the junction of U.S. Route 258 and State Routes 10 and 32, southeast of Smithfield. The population as of the 2010 Census was 872. It is named for Benn's United Methodist Church, which lies at the intersection of Benn's Church Boulevard and Brewer's Neck Boulevard, which was founded at that location by George Benn in 1789. Benn is buried in front of the church.

Wat Pasantidhamma

Wat Pasantidhamma (Thai: วัดป่าสันติธรรม, or "Wat Pa"), meaning "a peaceful temple in the woods", is a Thai Theravada Buddhist temple in rural Carrollton, Virginia. It is a non-profit religious organization serving the Thai and Thai American communities. Established as the first Buddhist temple in the Tidewater (southeastern) region of Virginia in 1998, it remains as of 2010 one of three in the State.
