The Battle of Sappony Church was an engagement of the American Civil War, between the Confederate States of America and the Union, which took place on June 28, 1864, during the Wilson-Kautz Raid of the Richmond–Petersburg Campaign.

Carson, Virginia

Carson is an unincorporated community in Prince George County, Virginia, United States, located between Petersburg and Stony Creek, just west of Interstate 95. History Carson was put on the map by virtue of the railroad that divides it. Carson is located on CSX's North End Subdivision between Petersburg and the Virginia/North Carolina state line. Most of the same trains traveling between Petersburg and Richmond on CSX also pass through Carson.

Sussex I State Prison

Sussex I State Prison is a prison of the Virginia Department of Corrections located in unincorporated Sussex County, Virginia, near Waverly. It is adjacent to Sussex II State Prison, which lies to its southeast, just across Musselwhite Drive. The prison, a maximum security facility, opened in May 1998. It serves as an intake facility. It includes the state death row for men. On August 3, 1998, the male death row moved from Mecklenburg Correctional Center to its current location.
