The Jack's Creek Covered Bridge, also known as the Upper Covered Bridge, is a county-owned wooden covered bridge that spans the Smith River in Patrick County, Virginia, United States. It is located on Jack's Creek Road (SR 615) off State Route 8 just south of the community of Woolwine, about 11 miles (18 kilometers) north of Stuart. It is located on the old portion of Bob White Road (SR 869) off State Route 8 southeast of the community of Woolwine, about 13 miles (21 kilometers) north of Stuart.

Rocky Knob AVA

The Rocky Knob AVA is an American Viticultural Area in a mountainous area east of the Blue Ridge Parkway in southwest Virginia. The AVA includes portions of Floyd and Patrick counties. The area is located on the eastern slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains near the towns of Woolwine and Meadows of Dan and astride the Blue Ridge Parkway. It was established in 1983 and encompasses 9,000 acres . The soil is primarily loam and gravel and is well-drained.

2004 Hendrick Motorsports aircraft crash

The October 2004 Martinsville plane crash occurred on 24 October 2004 when a Beechcraft Super King Air 200 aircraft owned by Hendrick Motorsports crashed into Bull Mountain, seven miles from Blue Ridge Airport, Martinsville, Virginia. All ten aboard the plane were killed, among them members of the Hendrick family including John Hendrick, president of Hendrick Motorsports; and former NASCAR Busch Series driver and owner Ricky Hendrick.
