KJR currently is the flagship station of the University of Washington, including Husky football and men's basketball broadcasts. KOMO (AM)

Vashon Island High School

Vashon Island High School (VHS) is a public high school located on Vashon Island, Washington. Vashon Island High School is the only high school to serve the island. VHS runs 9th through 12th grade. The school has two language courses available: Japanese and Spanish. VHS puts on three plays a year within the three drama classes; Theater Arts I, II and Musical Theater. The school's athletic mascot is the Pirates. Currently VHS has an enrollment of 518 students and 44 faculty and staff.

Vashon, Washington

Vashon is a census-designated place (CDP) in King County, Washington, United States. It covers an island alternately called Vashon Island or Vashon-Maury Island, the largest island in Puget Sound south of Admiralty Inlet. The population was 10,624 at the 2010 census. At 37 square miles, it is about 60 percent larger in area than Manhattan, with about 1/150 the population.

Colvos Passage

The Colvos Passage is a tidal strait within Puget Sound in the American state of Washington running west of Vashon Island between the island and the Kitsap Peninsula. It lies just north of the Tacoma Narrows. Colvos Passage has a permanent northbound current, but the rest of Puget Sound either flows southbound or varies with the tide. The communities of Fragaria, Sunrise Beach, Spring Beach, Maplewood, Lisabeula, Cove and Sylvan Beach are located on Colvos Passage.
