Tarnak Farms

Tarnak Farms refers to a former Afghan training camp near Kandahar. The camp is very near the Kandahar airport. The Al-Qaeda camp is alleged to have offered training constructing bombs, using poisons, urban warfare, and assassination. American counter-terrorism analysts assert that their sources claim all the camp's trainees had to attend Al Qaeda's Al Farouq camp first.

Kandahar International Airport

Kandahar International Airport (more commonly known as Kandahar Airfield, KAF) is located 10 miles (16 kilometers) south-east of Kandahar City in Afghanistan. The airport was built by the United States in the 1960s, under the United States Agency for International Development program. Kandahar airfield was occupied by the Soviets in 1979, and was severely damaged during the 1980s Soviet war in Afghanistan.

Arghistan River

The Arghistan or Arghastan is a river in southern Afghanistan. It flows through Arghistan District and the provinces of Zabul and Kandahar. It is a tributary of the Dori River, a sub-tributary of the Helmand River. It flows for 280 kilometres and has a basin area of 20,219 square kilometres .

Dori River

The Dori, also called Lora and Kadanai is a river of Afghanistan and Pakistan. It is a tributary of the Arghandab River and sub tributary of the Helmand River and runs for 320 kilometres through Kandahar Province in Afghanistan and Balochistan in Pakistan. The Dori begins north of the city of Quetta. It is called Lora in its headwaters in Pakistan. The name changes to Kadanai upon its entry into Afghanistan, and the name Dori is given below the town of Spin Baldak.
