CELPA (Mar Chiquita)

CELPA (Mar Chiquita) also known as CELPA Atlántico (Centro de Experimentación y Lanzamiento de Proyectiles Autopropulsados) was a rocket launch site in Argentina, north of Mar del Plata. The launch site was in service from 1968 to 1976 and was mainly used for launching rockets of the types Orion II, Arcas, Rocketsonde and Dragon I. The tests from CELPA Atlántico were sponsored by the United Nations since 1969. There was a total number of 69 tests.

Mar Chiquita

For the saline lake in Córdoba Province, see Mar Chiquita, Córdoba Mar Chiquita is a lagoon in the southeast province of Buenos Aires in eastern Argentina. It is located by the Atlantic coast, 30 km north of Mar del Plata. The area is a natural reserve where a number of animal species live around the lagoon.

GADA 601

The 601st Anti-Aircraft Artillery Group (GAA 601 or Grupo de Artillería Antiaérea 601), historically known as GADA 601 (Grupo de Artillería de Defensa Aérea 601) is the main anti-aircraft artillery unit of the Argentine Army. Its headquarters are based just north of Mar del Plata. The unit's name was changed to GAA 601 Teniente General Pablo Ricchieri in 1999. The group played a key role during the 1982 Falklands War. The GAA 601 compound is the main air defence training center in Argentina.

Also known as Mar del Plata Airport, it provides domestic flights on Austral Líneas Aéreas, Sol Líneas Aéreas, and Líneas Aéreas del Estado.

General Pueyrredón Partido

General Pueyrredón Partido is a partido located on the Atlantic coast of Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. The partido covers 1,453 km² and has a population of 564,056, most of whom live in the large coastal resort of Mar del Plata. The partido was created in 1879. The first mayor was Fortunato de la Plaza.
