Mopra Observatory

The 22-metre Mopra Radio Telescope, located near Coonabarabran, New South Wales, is part of the Australia Telescope National Facility, operated by CSIRO. The name hails from the location of the facility close to Mopra Rock a geological formation overlooking the telescope. It is also close to the Siding Spring optical observatory in the Warrumbungle National Park. For use as a single-dish, it has niche equipment allowing large bandwidths to be observed at millimeter-wavelengths.

UK Schmidt Telescope

The 1.2 metre UK Schmidt Telescope (UKST) is operated by the Australian Astronomical Observatory, and located adjacent to the 3.9 metre Anglo-Australian Telescope at Siding Spring Observatory, Australia. The UKST is a Schmidt camera, with a design based on the Oschin Schmidt Telescope. It is a survey telescope with a 6° by 6° field of view, and has been the primary source of optical survey data in the southern sky since it was opened in 1973.
