Shoal Bay, New South Wales

Shoal Bay is the most eastern suburb of the Port Stephens local government area in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. It is located on the southern shore of Port Stephens, adjacent to the bay of the same name at the entrance to the port. It includes part of Tomaree National Park within its boundaries and, like other suburbs around Port Stephens, is a popular tourist destination, especially in summer months.

HMAS Assault

HMAS Assault was a Royal Australian Navy Naval Training Centre at Nelson Bay in the Port Stephens area of New South Wales, Australia during World War II. The site was chosen because Port Stephens was relatively isolated and provided a safe haven from the Japanese submarine activity occurring off the east coast of Australia. HMAS Westralia anchored in Port Stephens on 3 September 1942 to provide interim accommodation until HMAS Assault was completed.

Nelson Bay, New South Wales

Nelson Bay is a suburb of the Port Stephens local government area in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. It is located on a bay of the same name on the southern shore of Port Stephens about 60 kilometres by road north-east of Newcastle, its nearest rail link. At the 2011 census, Nelson Bay had a population of 5,396. It is a major tourism centre, particularly for dolphin and whale watching, surfing, diving, fishing and other recreational aquatic activities.

Fingal Bay, New South Wales

Fingal Bay is the eastern-most suburb of the Port Stephens local government area in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. The only population centre is the township of the same name, which itself is named after the adjacent, small, semi-circular bay. At the 2011 census, the population of the town was 1,503. Except for the township, most of Fingal Bay is included in the Tomaree National Park, which includes forested areas, coastal scrubland, beaches and most of the Fingal headland.

Bay FM 99.3

Bay FM 99.3 is a narrowcast FM radio station serving the Tomaree and Tilligerry Peninsulas of Port Stephens in New South Wales, Australia. The station's licence was granted on 29 April 1998 and it transmits from Gan Gan Hill in Nelson Bay. Originally broadcasting on 98.3MHz, the station's frequency was changed to 99.3MHz on 8 August 2003. Bay FM 99.3 is owned and managed by Geoff and Jean Brown.
