Cassowary Coast Region

The Cassowary Coast Region is a local government area in the Far North Queensland region of Queensland, Australia, south of Cairns and centred on the towns of Innisfail, Cardwell and Tully. It was created in 2008 from a merger of the Shire of Cardwell and the Shire of Johnstone. The Regional Council, which administers the Region, has an estimated operating budget of A$64 million.

Jumbun, Queensland

Jumbun is an Aboriginal community located in the Cassowary Coast at Murray Upper which is 40 kilometres south-west of Tully in Far North Queensland, Australia. The word "jumbun" means "wood-grub" in Girrimay. The residents of Jumbun are predominantly from the Girrimay and Jirrbal Aboriginal tribes. At the 2011 census, Jumbun had a population of 104.

Murray Falls

Murray Falls are located in Girramay National Park off the Bruce Highway between Tully and Cardwell, in Queensland, Australia. The falls drop 30 metres and may be viewed from a boardwalk and viewing platform. A one-kilometre walking track through the rainforest leads to a lookout, where the falls and the Murray Valley can be viewed. In 2003, a man died in hospital after falling at the falls. Other waterfalls in the Cardwell district include Wallaman Falls, Blencoe Falls and Attie Creek Falls.

Edmund Kennedy National Park

Edmund Kennedy is a national park in Queensland, Australia, 1269 km northwest of Brisbane. The national park is part of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. It was named after Edmund Kennedy, a mid-nineteenth century explorer. The park protects part of the coastline between the mouths of the Tully River and Meunga Creek at Rockingham Bay. Waters adjacent to the park belong to the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

Shire of Cardwell

The Shire of Cardwell was a local government area of Queensland. It was located on the Coral Sea coast about halfway between the cities of Cairns and Townsville. The shire, administered from the town of Tully, covered an area of 3,062.2 square kilometres, and existed as a local government entity from 1884 until 2008, when it amalgamated with the Shire of Johnstone to form the Cassowary Coast Region.
