Balgowan, South Australia

Balgowan is a small coastal town on the western side of South Australia's Yorke Peninsula. It is located approximately 20 Kilometres (12 miles) west of Maitland. (Turn off the Moonta to Maitland main road. ) Like other tourist towns on this peninsula, it has a large number of shacks and holiday houses, as well as caravan facilities and a boat ramp. The population generally increases during peak holiday periods. Balgowan's only shop is a general store. The Store is now closed (as at August 2011)

Goose Island (South Australia)

Goose Island is a small (2 ha), rocky island lying about 550 m from the northern end of the much larger Wardang Island, off the west coast of the Yorke Peninsula, in the Spencer Gulf of South Australia. Rising to a height of 26 m, its vegetation is dominated by African Boxthorn on clay and calcarenite soils. The waters surrounding the island are protected in the Goose Island Aquatic Reserve.

Maitland, South Australia

Maitland is a town in South Australia located 168 km west of Adelaide by road, 164 km south of Port Pirie and 46 km north of Minlaton known as the "heart of Yorke Peninsula" due to being near the center of the region. At the 2006 census, Maitland had a population of 1,056. Maitland is within a short driving distance of coastal towns on either side, with Port Victoria to the west and Ardrossan to the east, each within 25 km.
