Laura, South Australia

Laura is a rural town in the Mid North - Southern Flinders Ranges region of South Australia, 12 km north of Gladstone on the Main North Road and 40 km east of Port Pirie. It is famous as the home of Golden North Icecream which has been manufactured in the town since 1923 (the factory being the biggest employer in the District), and was a boyhood home of poet C.J. Dennis, whose first poem was published in the Laura Standard newspaper.

Bowman Park

Bowman Park is a public park on the Crystal Brook about 5 km northeast of the township of Crystal Brook and 200 km north of the major city of Adelaide. The park has an area of about 40ha and is in the Northern Agricultural Area of the state of South Australia, and named for the Bowman Brothers who settled in the area around 1850. . It is open to the public from sunrise to sunset. Toilets and gas fired barbecues are available, dogs are allowed on leashes.

Gladstone, South Australia

Gladstone is a small rural town in the Mid North of South Australia in the approach to the lower Flinders Ranges. At the 2006 census, Gladstone had a population of 629. The town services the surrounding district with two pubs, three churches, a bank, Post Office and several shops and small businesses providing basic goods and services. The closest hospital is 11 km away in a neighbouring rural town, but doctors take appointments in the town’s medical clinic.

Crystal Brook, South Australia

Crystal Brook is a town in South Australia, named after the spring-fed creek next to which it was founded. It is 197 kilometres north of Adelaide and in 2006 had a population of 1,185. Crystal Brook is situated on Goyder's Line near the border of two climate systems. While apparently cold semi-arid, the town benefits from a temperate mediterranean climate zone near to the east, making possible slightly more intense farming in the region.
