Flaxley, South Australia

Flaxley is a small settlement in the Adelaide Hills located 39 km south-east of Adelaide in South Australia. It is situated in-between the larger towns of Echunga, Macclesfield and Meadows. It is based near the property "Battunga" meaning "rolling hills" in Aboriginal vocabulary. The property was purchased by English settler Robert Davenport in 1843.

Echunga, South Australia

Echunga is a small town in the Adelaide Hills located 34 km south-east of Adelaide in South Australia. The area was initially settled in 1839, with the town laid out in 1849. Gold was discovered in 1852 and Echunga became the first proclaimed goldfield in South Australia. This led to a gold rush, however it did not last long with the diggings exhausted and all but abandoned within a year. Subsequent discoveries in 1853 and 1854 led to smaller and equally short-lived rushes.

Wistow is a small town, just outside Mount Barker, on Wellington Road. It is a town formed around the interesction of Wellington Road (Mount Barker to Wellington) and Strathalbyn Road It is home to a delicatessan, a hall and a church. The delicatessan also has two petrol pumps available for vehicle refuelling. It has a cricket ground on the top of a hill.
