Wirrabara, South Australia

Wirrabara is a settlement in South Australia. At the 2006 census, Wirrabara had a population of 251. Wirrabara is located in the Southern Flinders Ranges in the mid-north of South Australia, along the Rocky River. A timber milling industry was established in Wirrabara during the early 1850s. In 1877 the first government forest nursery in Australia was planted in the nearby Wirrabara forest.

Melrose, South Australia

Melrose is the oldest town in the Flinders Ranges. It is in the shadow of Mount Remarkable, 265 km north of Adelaide, and the town was once named "Mount Remarkable". At the 2006 census, Melrose had a population of 431. The first European explorer in the area was Edward John Eyre in 1840, closely followed by settlers coming to farm the area. Copper was discovered and mining started in 1846, but it was not economic, and ceased in 1851.

GTS/BKN, known on-air as Southern Cross Television, is an Australian regional television station serving the Spencer Gulf of South Australia and the Broken Hill area of New South Wales. Based in Port Pirie with studio and playout facilities based in Canberra, the station's name originates from the original Port Pirie & Broken Hill stations callsigns, GTS-4 Port Pirie and BKN-7 Broken Hill.

Mount Remarkable National Park

Mount Remarkable is a national park in South Australia, 238 km north of Adelaide. Edward John Eyre named Mount Remarkable in June 1840. The Nukunu people, who called Mount Remarkable "Wangyarra", ("arra" meaning running water) inhabited the area before the arrival of European settlers in 1844. Alligator Gorge and Mambray Creek were dedicated as National Pleasure Resorts in 1952. These areas were added to and became managed by the National Parks Commission in the 1960s.
