Adamsfield, Tasmania

Adamsfield is a locality in Tasmania Australia where osmiridium was discovered in 1925. Alluvial mining resulted in one of the world's largest sources of osmium and iridium metal. Florentine Post Office opened on 1 November 1925. It was renamed Adamsfield next month and closed in 1960.

Lake Gordon

Lake Gordon is a reservoir created by the Gordon Dam on the upper reaches of the Gordon River in south-west Tasmania, Australia. The reservoir was formed in the early 1970s as a result of the dam construction by the HEC. It was the largest and most controversial hydro-electric power scheme in Tasmania. Lake Gordon has a surface area of 272 km, with storage capacity of 12.5 km of water, the equivalent of twenty-five times the amount of water in Port Jackson.

Gordon Dam

The Gordon Dam (also known as Gordon River Dam), is a double curvature arch dam on the Gordon River in Tasmania, Australia. The dam has a length of 192 m, and a height of 140 m, making it the tallest dam in Tasmania and the fifth-tallest in Australia. Water from the dam drops 183 m underground into its power station, where three turbines of 144 MW generates up to 432 MW of power, covering about 13% of the electricity demand of Tasmania.

Serpentine Dam (Tasmania)

The Serpentine Dam was one of the component dams involved in the flooding of Lake Pedder in South West Tasmania, it is located on the Serpentine River, Tasmania. The dam is a 38 m high rockfill dam. The building of this dam caused to loss of one of the significant sub-populations of the endangered Centrolepis peddernsis, while the nearby Gordon Dam caused the loss of another. It is now only known to exist in one location on the Frankland Range.

Scotts Peak Dam

The Scotts Peak Dam was one of the three component dams in the flooding of the original Lake Pedder in South West Tasmania, Australia. Completed in 1973, the dam is 43 m high and 1,067 m long, spanning across the upper reaches of the Huon River. This non-hydroelectric dam helps retain water in the new impoundment, which then flows to Lake Gordon via the McPartlans Pass Canal at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:42|50|51|S|146|11|45|E| | |name=McPartlans Pass Canal }}.
