Addington, Victoria

Addington is a small town in Victoria, Australia. It is located at the junction of Langi Kal-Kal Road and Edmonston Road, about 28 kilometres north-west of Ballarat. The town began as an agricultural settlement based around Addington Railway Station. A state school opened in 1860 under the name Ercildoune, and the area was known to the postal service as Mount Bolton. The school changed its name to Addington in about 1900.

Waubra

Waubra (formerly known as The Springs) is a town in Victoria, Australia. The town is on the Sunraysia Highway, 33 kilometres north west of Ballarat and split between the Pyrenees Shire and City of Ballarat local government areas. At the 2006 census, Waubra and the surrounding area had a population of 494. The town is known for the Waubra Wind Farm, one of the largest windfarms in Australia. It was the biggest wind farm in the Southern Hemisphere on completion.

Learmonth, Victoria

Learmonth is a picturesque township, located in Central Victoria, Australia, 136 kilometres west of the state capital Melbourne, and 23km North West of the regional city centre of Ballarat. Learmonth is located on the Sunraysia Highway, on the road to Avoca, St Arnaud and the Pyrenees wine region, and is surrounded by an agricultural, pastoral and dairy region. At the 2006 census, Learmonth had a population of 289. Today, approximately 300 people live in Learmonth.

The Shire of Ballarat was a local government area immediately to the northwest and west of the regional city of Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. The shire covered an area of 481.74 square kilometres, and existed from 1856 until 1994.

Waubra Wind Farm

The Waubra wind farm is located 35 km north-west of Ballarat and was completed in July 2009. It consists of 128 wind turbines, with associated substations and an operations centre. Each wind turbine has a capacity of 1.5 megawatts (MW), providing a total installed capacity of 192 MW. Waubra is the third largest wind farm in Australia, after Hallett Wind Farm (298MW) and Lake Bonney Wind Farm (279MW).
