Plenty, Tasmania

Plenty is a small locality and the name of a tributary river on the south side of the ]]River Derwent in the Derwent Valley in Tasmania. It is on the main road between New Norfolk and Bushy Park. At the 2006 census, Plenty had a population of 164. Formerly the location of hop growing, and fishing of the local migrating salmon, it is now notable for the salmon ponds and the Museum of Trout Fishing.

Westerway railway station

Westerway Railway Station is a railway station in the settlement of Westerway on the Derwent Valley Railway in Tasmania, Australia. The station was built in 1909 after the track was extended from Glenora. The station was the starting point for the pack horse journey to the Adamsfield osmiridium mine. As the timber industry became more important to the area, sawmills were built and the railway was used to transport logs to Boyer and Hobart.

Westerway, Tasmania

Westerway is a small town in southern Tasmania, Australia 68 kilometres west of Hobart on the Tyenna River. The Gordon River Road from New Norfolk to Strathgordon passes through it. It is in the Federal electorate Division of Lyons and is in the Derwent Valley Council Local Government Area. At the 2006 census, Westerway and the surrounding area had a population of 156.

Hayes Prison Farm

Hayes Prison Farm, an Australian minimum security prison for males, is located at Hayes, near New Norfolk, Tasmania. The facility is operated by the Tasmanian Prison Service, an agency of the Department of Justice of the Government of Tasmania. Located on 800 hectares, the facility accepts felons convicted under Tasmanian and/or Commonwealth legislation. In June 2011 the Minister for Corrections and Consumer Protection, Nick McKim, announced that the facility will close by late 2012.
