Bass, Victoria

Bass is a small rural town 113 kilometres (70 mi) south-east of Melbourne via the South Gippsland and Bass Highways, in the Bass Coast Shire of Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. At the 2006 census, Bass and the surrounding area had a population of 937. The town is named after George Bass who explored and named Western Port bay in 1798 in a small whaling boat and sailed some distance up the Bass river. A memorial to George Bass stands in the George Bass Park.

Bass River (Victoria)

The Bass River is a relatively short coastal river located in the Bass Coast Shire of Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. The river headwaters are in the Strzelecki Ranges, north of the town of Korumburra, flowing west, then west-southwest before entering Western Port, near the town of Bass. It was discovered by George Bass in January 1798 on his 'whaleboat' expedition of the southeast coast of Australia.

Anderson railway station

Anderson was a railway station on the Wonthaggi line located near Anderson, Victoria. The station operated until the line's closure in 1978. The site of this station is now a carpark and the starting point of the Bass Coast Rail Trail.

Anderson, Victoria

Anderson is a locality in Victoria, Australia. The roundabout which the locality is centralised around has been named the Anderson Roundabout which is all the town is thought of today. The town is named after the Anderson brothers, one of the first Europeans to settle in the area.
