Guildford, Victoria

Guildford is a small settlement situated on the Loddon River, 130 kilometres north-west of Melbourne, in Victoria, Australia. It is located on the Midland Highway between Daylesford and Castlemaine. The population recorded at the 2011 census was 245. Facilities in the town include a post office (in a building dating from 1901), hotel, community hall and a general store. It is thought that the town was named after Guildford in England.

Vaughan, Victoria

Vaughan, is a small village in the Shire of Mount Alexander in the state of Victoria, Australia south of Castlemaine and east of Guildford. Vaughan is situated on the Loddon River which has the Lawson spring, a drinkable mineral water spring. Vaughan Post Office first opened on 15 March 1859 and closed in 1922. It opened again in 1947 and closed in 1968.

Irishtown, Victoria

Irishtown is a locality near Castlemaine in Victoria, Australia. It is noted for heritage sites associated with the Victorian Gold Rush, near or within the Castlemaine Diggings National Heritage Park. These include the Red Hill hydraulic gold sluicing site and the Burying Flat Cemetery, also known as Deadmans Gully Burial Ground. A rush began to New Year's Flat on Fryers Creek on New Years Day, 1853.

Fryers Forest

Fryers Forest is an eco-village in a forest setting in central Victoria, Australia near Castlemaine. It features planning along Permaculture principles, including examples of solar passive houses and sustainable management of native bushland systems. This rural eco-village consists of 11 residential titles (1 acre each) clustered within 300 acres of common native forest. It is currently the home for 27 villagers (17 adults and 10 children).
