Shire of Mansfield

The Shire of Mansfield is a local government area in Victoria, Australia in the north-east of the state. It includes the towns of Mansfield, Mount Buller, Bonnie Doon, Jamieson, Kevington, Merrijig and Woods Point. In 2006 it had a population of 7,191. The shire is bordered by the Rural City of Benalla, the Shire of Baw Baw, the Shire of Murrindindi, the Shire of Yarra Ranges, the Shire of Strathbogie and the Shire of Wellington.

Mansfield, Victoria

Mansfield is a small town in the foothills of the Victorian part of the Australian Alps. It is approximately 180 km north-east of Melbourne. At the 2006 census, Mansfield had a population of 4052. Mansfield is the centre of a large shire; it was amalgamated with the nearby town of Benalla (60 km) to form Delatite Shire but after community action became the first de-amalgamation in Victoria. Mansfield was formerly heavily dependent on farming and logging, but is now a tourist-centre.

Mansfield railway station, Victoria

Mansfield is a former railway station in Mansfield, Victoria, Australia. The former station building now serves tourists to the community as a visitor centre. The station is of a traditional timber design, and features many original fixtures including pressed metal interior walls, original doors and timber panelling and a full length signal bay window. Original light fittings are also in place inside the station building.
