Rural City of Horsham

The Rural City of Horsham is a local government area in Victoria, Australia in the west of the state. It has an area of 4,239 square kilometres. In 2006 it had a population of 18,492. It was formed in 1995 by the merger of the City of Horsham, most of the Shire of Wimmera and Shire of Arapiles, and part of the Shire of Kowree. This large city has been prominent as the winner of Australia’s tidiest town (in 2001) and the community pride is evident everywhere.

Mount Arapiles

Mount Arapiles is a rock formation that rises about 140 metres above the Wimmera plains in western Victoria, Australia. It is located in Arapiles approximately 10 km west of the town of Natimuk, Victoria and is part of the Mount Arapiles-Tooan State Park. Arapiles is a very popular destination for rock climbers due to the quantity and quality of climbs. It is one of the premier climbing sites in Australia along with the nearby Grampians. The Aboriginal name for Arapiles is Djurite.
