Serpentine, Victoria

Serpentine is a town in north west Victoria, Australia. Located on the Loddon Valley Highway, the town is 201 kilometres north west of the state capital, Melbourne and 51 kilometres north west of the regional centre, Bendigo. Serpentine is in the Shire of Loddon local government area and, including the surrounding state suburb, had a population of 380 at the 2006 census. The town is named for Serpentine Creek, a tributary of the Loddon River.

Shire of East Loddon

The Shire of East Loddon was a local government area about 50 kilometres northwest of Bendigo in northwestern Victoria, Australia. The shire covered an area of 1,200.18 square kilometres, and existed from 1864 until 1995.

Shire of Loddon

The Shire of Loddon is a local government area in Victoria, Australia in the north-western part of the state. It includes the towns of Inglewood, Boort, Pyramid Hill and Wedderburn. It has an area of 6,701 square kilometres. In 2006 it had a population of 7,836. It was formed in 1995 from the merger of the Shire of East Loddon, Shire of Gordon, Shire of Korong, and parts of the City of Greater Bendigo, Shire of Bet Bet, Shire of Maldon and Shire of Tullaroop.

Loddon River

The Loddon River is a 392-km long tributary of the Murray River that flows through central and northern Victoria, Australia. The river rises near Trentham and flows by Glenlyon. It then flows generally northward through Guildford and Newstead, 40 km west of Bendigo through the Cairn Curran Reservoir and Laanecoorie Reservoir and continues north through the town of Bridgewater. It then passes Serpentine and north to Kerang.

Bridgewater On Loddon, Victoria

Bridgewater On Loddon is a town in north central Victoria, Australia. The town is located on the Calder Highway, north west of Bendigo, astride the Loddon River. At the 2006 census, Bridgewater On Loddon had a population of 391. The rural area which surrounds Bridgewater on Loddon is named simply "Bridgewater". The Loddon Shire covers an area of approximately 6,700 square kilometres making it the seventh largest municipality (in area) in Victoria. The Shire’s population is approximately 8,600.
