Bowes Station
Bowes Station is a pastoral lease and sheep station located in the Mid West region of Western Australia. Situated approximately 90 kilometres to the south-east of Kalbarri and 84 kilometres to the west of Mullewa. The station was established in 1850 by William Burges and his brother Lockier, when they applied for land in the newly discovered Champion Bay district. He moved from his property, Tipperary near York and by 1857 was grazing sheep on 93,000 acres.

Northampton is a town 52 kilometres north of Geraldton, in the Mid West region of Western Australia. At the 2006 census, the town had a population of 813. It is an attractive historical town, with an outstanding National Trust building. The town lies on the North West Coastal Highway. Formerly named Gwalla after the location's copper mine, it was established by the Cornish ex-convict Joseph Horrocks. It is also the closest service town to the micronation, the Principality of Hutt River.

The Shire covers an area of 13,738 square kilometres, and its seat of government is the town of Northampton, with the largest settlement being Kalbarri. The Principality of Hutt River, a micronation which is not recognised by the Australian or Western Australian governments, is within the Shire.
