Vienna Woods

The Vienna Woods are forested highlands that form the northeastern foothills of the Northern Limestone Alps in the states of Lower Austria and Vienna. The 45 kilometres long and 20–30 kilometres (&#160) wide range of hills is heavily wooded and a popular recreation area with the Viennese.

Schöpfl

Schöpfl is the highest hill (893 m) in the Wienerwald mountain range (Vienna woods), the north-easternmost part of the Alps. Geologically, it belongs to the flysch Alps. The main top of the wooded mountain range carries a high observation tower which enables a 100 km sight to the Northern Limestone Alps in the west and the Carpathian Mountains in the east. At the Mitterschöpfl (approx. 880 m above sea level), the University of Vienna's Leopold Figl observatory is located.

Rust im Tullnerfeld

Rust im Tullnerfeld is located in Michelhausen, Tulln District, Lower Austria (Niederösterreich). It is the birthplace of Leopold Figl and home to the museum honoring him. It has the same name as the more well known Rust in Burgenland. See Rust, Austria.

Dürnrohr Power Station

The Dürnrohr power station is a thermal power station in Lower Austria. The power station was built as a replacement for the Zwentendorf Nuclear Power Station, a plant that was finished but due to a 1978 referendum never started up. The Dürnrohr plant was built in its proximity in order to use the already established power lines and other infrastructure.
