Marcílio Dias, Porto Alegre

Marcílio Dias is a neighbourhood (bairro) in the city of Porto Alegre, the state capital of Rio Grande do Sul, in Brazil. It was created by Law 2022 from December 7, 1959, but had its limits modified by Law 6218 from October 17, 1988, which originated the Farrapos and Humaitá neighbourhoods. It was named after Marcílio Dias (1838-1865), a sailor man and war hero during the Paraguayan War.
