Lake Varna

Lake Varna (Bulgarian: Варненско езеро, Varnensko ezero) is the largest by volume and deepest liman or lake along the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast, divided from the sea by a 2 km-wide strip of sand and having an area of 17 km², maximal depth 19 m, and a volume of 166 million m³. The lake has an elongated shape, its south shores are high, steep and wooded, and the north slant. Lake Varna was formed in a river valley by the raising of sea level near the end of the Pleistocene.

Lake Beloslav

Lake Beloslav is a liman, which connected by the navigation canal with the Lake Varna. Before the canal was built the lake was freshwater, but now the water is brackish. The rivers Devnya and Provadiyska inflow to the Lake Beloslav. The area of the liman is about 40-10 km2, width 0.5-3.5 km, maximal depth 14 m, salinity about 10‰.

Kamchiya

The Kamchiya is a 244.5 km long river in eastern Bulgaria, the longest river on the Balkan Peninsula to flow directly into the Black Sea. It starts from the confluence of two rivers springing from Eastern Stara Planina, Golyama Kamchiya (itself formed by the confluence of the rivers Ticha and Vrana) and Luda Kamchiya, flows eastward to the Black Sea and empties into it 25 km south of Varna, in the Resort of Kamchiya.

Varna Necropolis

The Varna Necropolis (also Varna Cemetery) is a burial site in the western industrial zone of Varna (approximately half a kilometre from Lake Varna and 4 km from the city centre), Bulgaria, internationally considered one of the key archaeological sites in world prehistory. The oldest golden treasure in the world, dating to 5,000 BC, was discovered at the site.
