Battle of Papudo

The Naval Battle of Papudo was a naval engagement fought between Spanish and Chilean forces on November 26, 1865, during the Chincha Islands War. It was fought 55 miles north of Valparaiso, Chile, near the coastal town of Papudo.

1730 Valparaíso earthquake

The 1730 Valparaíso earthquake occurred at 03:45 local time on July 8. It had an estimated magnitude of 8.7 and triggered a major tsunami with an estimated magnitude of Mt=8.75, that inundated the lower parts of Valparaíso. The earthquake caused severe damage from La Serena to Chillan, while the tsunami affected more than 1,000 km of Chile's coastline.

2012 Valparaíso earthquake

The 2012 Valparaíso earthquake was an earthquake that occurred on April 16 at 11:50 pm local time. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake measured 6.7 in the moment magnitude scale, but no significant damage to public or private property occurred as a result. An elderly man experienced a fatal heart attack, and this was the only human casualty.

Playa Luna

Playa Luna (english Moon Beach) is the name popularly known Horcon's nude beach. This is the only nude beach that exists in Chile. It is located in the Valparaiso Region, in the commune of Puchuncaví, near the town of Horcon and very close Maitencillo Resort. Access is via the south coastal road leading from Viña del Mar and Concon, on the north by Route from Papudo and Zapallar and on the east from Route CH-5 North via Nogales.
