Mission Hills Haikou

Mission Hills Haikou is a golf complex currently under construction in Hainan, China. At 80sq km (1.5 times the size of Manhattan) and containing 22 golf courses and luxury hotels, it will be the second largest golf complex in the world. The largest is the Mission Hills Golf Club in Shenzhen. The complex has been under construction since 2006, but stopped for several months during 2008 because of land disputes. It is due to open some time in 2011.

Haikou Volcanic Cluster Global Geopark

Haikou Volcanic Cluster Global Geopark, also known as Haikou Scenic-Shishan Volcano Cluster, Leiqiong Global Geopark, Haikou Crater Park, and Hainan Crater Park is a national park located approximately 15 km west of Haikou, Hainan, China. It is named for a crater, one of many extinct volcanoes on the island. The park has a total area of 118 square kilometres. It contains the two towns Shishan Town and Yongxing Town, and more than 40 Quaternary volcanoes.

Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences

The Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences (CATAS) (中国热带农业科学院) is an agricultural university located in Haikou City, Hainan Province, China. The academy was founded in 1954 in Guangzhou. It later moved to Danzhou, Hainan, and then to its current location in the south part of Haikou, beside the Hainan Medical College. Today, the academy has more than 3,000 staff members, 2,000 of which are involved in research work.
