Dagang District

The area that was formerly known as Dagang District lies at the southeast of Tianjin municipality area. It had a population of 440,000 and occupied 1113.83 km² in size, with a coast line stretching approximately 25 km on the eastern side. Established in 1979, Dagang has developed a foundation of petroleum chemistry and hosts Dagang Oilfield within its border.

Hai River

The Hai River at Tianjin is formed by the confluence of five rivers, the Southern Canal, Ziya River, Daqing River, Yongding River, and the Northern Canal. The southern and northern canals are parts of the Grand Canal.

Qikou, Huanghua

Qikou is a village of Nanpaihe Town, Huanghua, in the southeast of Hebei Province in North China. Lying on the coast of the Bohai Gulf, it is close to the Hebei–Tianjin border.

Battle of Taku Forts (1860)

The Third Battle of Taku Forts was an engagement of the Second Opium War, part of the British and French 1860 expedition to China. It took place at the Taku Forts (also called Peiho Forts) near Tanggu District, approximately 60 kilometers (36 mi. ) southeast of Tianjin City.

Taku Forts

The Taku Forts or Dagu Forts, also called the Peiho Forts are forts located by the Hai River (Peiho River) estuary, in Tanggu District, Tianjin municipality, in northeastern China. They are located 60 km southeast of the Tianjin urban center.
