Guatuso is the name of the 15th canton in the province of Alajuela in Costa Rica. The canton covers an area of 758.32 square kilometres, and has a population of 13,984 (estimate as of 2003). The capital city of the canton is San Rafael de Guatuso.

San Rafael is the capital city of the canton of Guatuso in the province of Alajuela in Costa Rica. It is also the name of the distrito (district) that includes the city. The city lies at an elevation of 50 meters above sea level near the western edge of the San Carlos Plain (Llanura de San Carlos) in northern Costa Rica.

Lacustrino de Tamborcito Wetlands is a Nature Reserve, part of the Arenal Huetar Norte Conservation Area, in the northern part of Costa Rica about 80 miles north of San José, to the east of Boca Tapada. It protects wetland forest areas near the border with Nicaragua, and is part of the proposed Maquenque National Park.

Tilarán (canton)
Tilarán is the eighth canton in the province of Guanacaste in Costa Rica. The canton covers an area of 638.39 km², and has a population of 19,045. Its capital city is also called Tilarán. The canton surrounds Lake Arenal (Laguna de Arenal) except for the lake's southeast end, which belongs to the province of Alajuela. The northern border is in the Cordillera de Guanacaste, touching the Río Corobicí at its northernmost limits. The south part of the canton is in the Cordillera de Tilarán.
