Limassol District

Limassol District is one of the six districts of Cyprus with population 235,036, as estimated in 2011. Its main town is Limassol with population, as estimated in 2011, 100,952 (City) and about 180,000 (urban). Omodos

Omodos is a village in the Troödos Mountains of Cyprus. It is also located in the Limassol District of Cyprus and is 80 kilometers from the city of Nicosia. The village produces a lot of wine and holds a wine festival every August. You can visit a 17th Century stone built monastery via a cobblestone path and sample local wine for free at many outlets. You will also find a good mix of restaurants including traditional tavernas and a few modern bars housed in traditional buildings.

Kouris Dam

Kouris dam is the largest of a network of 107 dams in Cyprus. It lies at an altitude of 250m and collects the water delivered by the rivers Kouris, Limnatis and Kryos. Furthermore, water from Diarizos river is diverted to Kouris dam via a 14.5 km long connecting tunnel. It has an overall catchment area of 300 km. The dam is located 15 km northwest of the city of Limassol and 6 km west of the village of Ypsonas.

Trooditissa Monastery

Trooditissa Monastery, (Μοναστήρι Τροοδίτισσας) is situated on the southern slopes of the Troödos Mountains on the island of Cyprus. It is an orthodox monastery dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It was founded in 990, but the current building dates back to 1731. It is built at an altitude of 1,500m (4566 feet) and the closest village is Plátres.

Troodos Mountains

Troodos (Greek: Τρόοδος is the largest mountain range of Cyprus, located in the center of the island. Troodos' highest peak is Mount Olympus at 1,952 meters which also hosts 4 ski slopes. The Troodos mountain range stretches across most of the western side of Cyprus. There are many famous mountain resorts, Byzantine monasteries and churches on mountain peaks, and nestling in its valleys and picturesque mountains are villages clinging to terraced hill slopes.
