Planá is a village in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has around 250 inhabitants. First written mention about the settlement is from year 1259. During 1687–1849 and 1868–1990 the village was administrative part of nearby city České Budějovice. Military airport (built in 1939) is located on area of the village.

The Malše originates on the north slope of Viehberg, near the village of Sandl in Bezirk Freistadt, Upper Austria.
