Tyssaer Wände

The Tyssaer Wände are a well-known group of rocks in the western Bohemian Switzerland not far from its topographical boundary with the Ore Mountains. The region, with its rock pillars up to 30 m high, is one of the major tourist attractions of Bohemian Switzerland. The Tyssaer Wände and their neighbouring Bürschlitzwände (Bürschlické stěny) are protected as a national nature reserve.

Battle of Peterswalde

The Battle of Peterswalde occurred on 15 August 1759, in Peterswald, now part of the Czech Republic, during the Seven Years War. Peterswalde was the site of a Habsburg ammunition magazine. A column of Prince Henry of Prussia's advance guard, under command of Johann Jakob von Wunsch, attacked a position strongly held by Croatians of the Habsburg military. In the skirmish, the Croats were routed out of their positions.

Děčínský Sněžník

The Děčínský Sněžník is a mountain in the Czech Republic and, at 722.8 m above sea level, the highest peak in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. The Sněžník is located in the Jílové municipality, west of Děčín in the Ústí nad Labem Region, in the mountainous area of Bohemian Switzerland, close to the border with Germany. One of the first historical figures to visit Děčínský Sněžník was Emperor Joseph II of Habsburg, who climbed the peak in September 1779.

Zlatopramen Arena

Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem (UJEP) is a public university in the Czech Republic. The institution was established on 28 September, 1991. It bears the name of famous Czech scientist Jan Evangelista Purkyně who was born in nearby Libochovice. More than 10,000 students are studying at the university.
