Venø

Venø is a small Danish island located in Limfjorden in the north of Jutland, 3 km north of Struer. It is 7.5 km long and has a maximum width of 1.5 km. With an area of 6.5 km, it has a population of 197 as of 1 January 2010. Since 1958, there has been a ferry service from Venø Odde, the island's most southerly point, over the narrow sound to Kleppen. Venø's highest point, Forstov Bakke, is 27 meters above sea level and has cliffs to the west.

Oddesund

Oddesund is a strait in the Danish Limfjorden. A bridge spans the fjord connecting the mainland of Jutland with Thy. According to the Heimskringla, a battle took place in Oddasund between the Swedish king Jorund and a Norwegian pirate from Hålogaland. The area is a popular for tourists and it offers recreational fishing opportunities.

Struer Municipality

Struer Municipality is a municipality in Central Denmark Region on the Jutland Peninsula in west Denmark. The municipality includes the island of Venø, and it covers an area of 248 km². It has a total population of 22,672 (2008). Its mayor is Viggo Lynghøj Christensen, a member of the Social Democratic party. The main town and the site of its municipal council is the city of Struer.

Struer, Denmark

Struer is the main town of the kommune of Struer, Region Midtjylland, Denmark with a population of 10,572 (1 January 2011). The town of Struer owes its growth to the railroad, which arrived in 1865 with Jutland's first railroad line from Århus/Randers over Viborg to Skive and Struer.

Thyholm (peninsula)

Thyholm is a peninsula in Denmark located in Limfjorden north of Struer. It is connected by causeway with North Jutlandic Island and the rest of Thy. To the south, the Oddesund Bridge connects it to the rest of Jutland. With an area of 7,624 ha, the peninsula has some 75 km of coastline and 3,582 inhabitants, of whom about half live in Hvidbjerg. The fertile soil has attracted inhabitants since the last ice age. Burial mounds can be seen in the countryside.
